Time It Seems To Slip Away

Taila and her Great Grandma Gene & Great Grandpa Bruce Thurston

This poem is about family and friends and why our time with them is so precious, don’t waste it and don’t lose it. Remember to say “I Love You” while they’re still around. I wrote this poem the night my grandma McNeil passed away. Despite the sadness of loosing a loved one, I was overwhelmed with joy and love for my extended family, cousins and aunts and uncles that I hadn't seen in such a long time. We hung out for hours and talked about the good memories we all had of each other. It was wonderful.

Time It Seems To Slip Away

Time it seems to slip away
Each year goes by as if just one day
Faces change and kids appear
It's hard to believe it's been all these years
It's amazing to see that our family tree
Has grown so much from a tiny seed
The memories we shared from long ago
Are ours to treasure and ours alone

As life goes on and we all grow old
It's the time together and the love we hold
That keep us close as a family should be
Though we move away and seldom see
More of each other as we know we would
If work wasn't so busy and life so good
Yet time it seems to slip away
Each year goes by as if another day
So it's good to see you once again
To say "I love you and I miss you my friend (s)"
