This poem is about not being afraid to live righteously, that Heavenly powers are round about you always. It’s about following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ and not being discouraged when we make mistakes, and also not being ungrateful for the blessings we do receive. Written to my brother before he left on his mission.
Be Not Afraid
Be not afraid in times of trouble
Be not discouraged after a stumble
Be not afraid to stand alone
Be not ungrateful for your heavenly home
Look to the man who walked on water
The only begotten of a celestial father
Go unto Him who miracles wrought
Remembering that of you He hasn’t forgot
Be not worried or ever afraid
Continue the foundation that God has laid
Be not unworthy of the things above
All things are possible when done with love
So be like your brother who walked upon water
Do as He did and love one another
To my brother Heath Thurston (6 – 7 – 97)
